What is a  Needs Profile?

You may not be used to the term “Needs Profile“, but you and everyone in the World has one from the moment you are born all of the way through your life. During that time it will change, depending upon your circumstances.

As a baby or a toddler, your parents may have particular needs when they take you out with regard to getting into a places, feeding you, changing you, etc. If you become a parent, you will have similar needs in relation to your children.

During your life, you may have an accident or have a temporary or permanent condition that affects how you go about your day to day activities. As a result, how you access products and services may be impacted. Your Needs Profile may change temporarily or on a permanent basis.

Some people are born with a medical condition, which “disables” them from doing certain things during their life, so they may always have a specific Needs Profile. This again may also change from time to time for the above reasons.

We all get older, so for many people mobility, sight, hearing, mental capacity can become affected. This may mean a change to your Needs Profile as your needs change.

When eating out, some people have special dietary needs which may be as a result of a medical condition, such as diabetes, or because of their religious or ethical upbringing.

Finally, some people may just have access preferences as a result of their work or leisure activities. An example of this may be the need for internet access while staying in a hotel, etc.

All of these factors go into defining our Needs Profile, which as you can clearly see, changes periodically throughout our lives.

Everyone is unique, although many similar traits will exist across our profiles. It is this which helps us create our Accessible World as we can match peoples’ needs to the places others go and share the knowledge.
