Additional Comments
We found this attraction very disappointing. Not only were the facilities and car parking gravely inadequate but signage of objects in the house might as well have not existed (telling the visitor that they are looking at a plate or a cup is not signage, it is taking the mike out of the visitors intelligence) We would honestly suggest that disabled people give this venue a wide birth and go and have a look at a National Trust property instead.

Car parking on a steep hill over black rolled granite chips (Not good for wheelchairs) Shop and food plus further toilets at top of hill and completely inaccessible for disabled people. The hill is about 100 ft high and slopes too steeply for wheelchairs to be able to access. It would be possible if one parked on disabled parking at the top of the hill, but without getting into the car and looking for a lower car park place how is one to get to the main attraction, the big house? Most of the toilet facilities are at the top of the hill and thus not checked, unable to reach them in a wheelchair. There is one set of toilets at the bottom outside the house. The disabled toilets were in the ladies, there were nun in the gents. If as in our case the disabled person is female but needs help how can her husband give that help? She informed me that the toilet door opened inwards, and that with her feet stuck against the toilet bowl, she still could not shut the door. We left, heading for Woolly Edge Services on the M1 there being no other option.
